A Kindergarten Smorgasboard of Groundhog Day!

Happy Monday!!! It's GROUNDHOG DAY! Well, not really but in room 114 we celebrated the whistle pig today!

And again I had 5 kids out. This is getting to be routine! I wonder if I will ever get to send my 100% attendance card to the office ever again. That poor little card just sits there...longing to be used!

Did your kids talk about the Super Bowl today? We sure did. My students are excited that the team "in the purple pants" won. They are also convinced that Beyonce "rocked it out" so much that she made the lights go out.

And now the groundhog and our kindergarten smorgasboard of groundhog fun. Also known as a whistle pig! True story.

We started off our day with groundhog facts!  We learned a lot about groundhogs.   Now, if only Mr. Greg could learn to draw.  This is my sad sad attempt at a groundhog.  My dear friend Katie from Teacher To The Core says it's a buck-toothed bear!  Punsxatawney Phil would just die.  For shame.  And now you know why I buy clip art and not create it!

I love that they have learned so much about groundhogs!!!!

Shadow or no shadow?  We made our groundhog coins and predicted who would win.  We flipped the coin and graphed our results!

They did such a good job with these that I covered our "monsterific work" board with all of them!  i love when we can fill that thing up with work!

We used our dice to practice adding with roll and color!  We love roll and color games!

We made a groundhog spinner so we could spin and graph!  Note:  if your graph is the exact same all the way across, you probably ain't doing it right.  Just sayin monsters.

And these math activities were a super fun, super engaging way to meet those common core standards.  Again with the engaging, fun, standards and learning...cray cray!

Of course we had our groundhog in a burrow snack!  The best part was crumbling up the Oreo !

The next best part was EATING!  Num Num!

Of course, what would a week be at Monster's Inc without silly hats!!!!!

And that was our groundhog day!!!  A super fun day!  We learned a lot about groundhogs, we had tons of fun and we made a silly hat.  And we have glitter in our hair.  It was a successful day.  (The glitter is from morning meeting!  We played SPARKLE!  We count to a pre-determined number.  If you are that number you get sparkled!  That means you get glitter in your hair!)

Now I want to show you what I just got from my dear friend  Farrah from Mrs. Shipley's Fabulous Firsties!   In the words of Nancy Grace:  BOMBSHELL!

It's ME!  Again!  (Can I just say that I am in love with all of the avatars my friends have created for me!!!!!!!  I might have to start a new addiction.  Clip artist...ready?  Draw me.  GO!)

If you would like your own Farrah's Figures, go check out my talented friend Farrah!

And of course, you need to see the stunning outfit I wore today!
