A Kindergarten Smorgasboard Printing Revolution!

Happy Tuesday!  Day two...how was it?  We had another good day!  We're easing back into our routines and procedures!  We even got a new monster today and we handled that well.

Today I want to share something revolutionary.  Mind blowing.  Life altering.  OK, at least it was for me.  I might be the last person on earth to have figured this out...but hey, I'm excited about it!  And let's be honest, for someone who does craftivities all of the time, this is a huge time saver.  Just thinking about all of that time I spent tracing pieces for craftivities...makes.  me. ill.  hehe  That's more time I could have used eating...being sarcastic...so many things...

Anyways, my revolution is that I discovered you can print on construction paper!!!!  Shut. The.  Front. Door.  I know, right?!  I'm sure you all knew this...but this dude did not.  I have an HP Laserjet printer so I know it works with this type of printer.  I also know you can use Risso machines to copy on construction paper.   Just not the one at my school because um...it's broken...and we don't have funds to fix it.  So laser printing it is.

Here is my little tutorial!

Did you know this?!

  1. Don't feel too bad I just discovered this a couple months ago... my genius self knew there had to be a way TO print on the construction paper... but couldn't figure out how to make it fit in the printer. It took an hour and asking a friend to figure out to just cut it.

  2. Now if someone could only create construction paper that was already cut into the right size...

    1. Ideas for leftovers: if it's small strips, use them to make a chain to decorate the room! If you are cutting the larger sheets, staple the leftover sheets together and make little books for the kids to draw in.

  3. No kidding Sarah! I am always at a loss with what to do with those extra pieces I cut off. I have a whole box for "scraps" later and we never actually use them!

I'm so glad I saw your pin on Pinterest! I love your quirky sarcastic ways and I think you'll be one of my favorite new blogs to follow! Cute stuff!

  4. Wow!! I had no idea! I thought I would break the printer if I did that... then I'd be in BIG trouble! Thanks for sharing! Now I have to get a paper cutter.=)

  5. I'm in love with your paper collection! All our paper is the same standard sizes in Australia, so yes I have been doing this for a while... I'm sure this will be a huge time saver for you :)

  6. You are fantastic!!!! I order my paper like this too.. Or rather the kids love organizing it!

I've printed some super spelling and sight word games on this colored paper to go with their colored level words. I'm giving them away on my blog, so if youre one of my 1st 20 followers you will get a free pack!

  12. This is a fabulous idea! I also learned (through years of doing this) that if you don't have a master on white paper (for use on a copy machine) the copies will come out way too dark. So make sure to have a master handy. However, I did not know that I could feed it straight through my printer!!!!! So excited to try this. What a time saver! Thanks for sharing!

  13. I've found that you should also change the paper setting to cardstock or cover paper when printing on construction paper. In my experience, the ink rubs off if the setting stays the same as regular printing

  14. Oh, and if you just buy the 9x12 paper, you won't have so much left over.
