A Kindergarten Smorgasboard of Ideas: The Saturday Kindergarten Post!

Happy Saturday!  Is this your last weekend before we return to our classrooms?  It is for me!  We have finally finished taking down all of the Christmas madness goodness and got the estate back to normal!    How are you spending your Saturday?!

Normally on Saturday I do the Saturday Kindergarten Post where I share all of insanity and chaos and messiness from the week in Monsters, Inc. (my classroom!) but since I've had the week off, I am going to share a couple of school related things I did or shared this past week!

Using student pictures for clip chart clips and my monster sized clip chart!  Notice that I tore off the old pictures from the clips before I snapped this picture!

Casino baskets for QUIET dice!  No more click click clack clack!  AH, peace!

DIY dry erase pockets!

Using students in sight word a sight word PowerPoint!

Mini Stampers for math centers!  I created a super fun I Love The 80's themed ten frames freebie to go with these!  You can get it from my freebies page!

Here is one of my fave new year's activities!  This is a great way to build community on your first few days back!  It's also a great lesson for adjectives (especially for upper grades!)  Students use adjectives or short phrases to say nice things about their classmates!  Record those on paper or the Smart Board and snap a picture!  You can also click on the picture to get tons of New Year's freebies and ideas!

Have you subscribed to my newsletter yet!?  WHAT?  Why not?!  DO IT!  A new edition will be coming out this week with tips and ideas and a newsletter exclusive freebie!  Think cars and trucks and ten frames!  HMMMM

You can sign up on the right side of this page...over there....keep going....over...up...YEAH!  Right there! ------->

And now I want to share something very exciting with you...actually two or three exciting things!

First is this amazing new Pinterest board that is geared for Kindergarten teachers!

And check out this super fun scavenger hunt that will be happening tomorrow!  Read below to see my friend Shuna's post on  how to enter!

And if you're not a Google+ person yet, you should totally go join now!  There is a big news for kindergarten teachers coming tomorrow and it's happening on Google+!  I am quickly becoming a fan of this new social media location!  Simple to use and learn and has some awesome features!  Sign up and add me to your circles!

Hiya peepers

Shuna here

I just wanted to stop in and tell you about the awesomeness that is happening on FB on this

Sunday at 3:00! I have joined up with a few of my fabulous friends to host a FB Blog Fans

Scavenger hunt! Sounds fun right?!

So here is the deal

There are 16 bloggers participating and each is donating a fan-ta-bu-lous prize

To win all you have to do is follow the clues and leave a comment on the person's FB page with

the correct answer

I will give the first clue on my FB page here at 3 p.m. central time on Sunday

Once you figure out what fabulous blogger my clue refers to leave their name or link in the

comments! All fans who answer the clue correctly will be entered into the individual drawing as

well as the big drawing!

To find the next clue you will hop over to that person's FB page, you can get to it by visiting their

blog and clicking on the FB button in the sidebar,  and read your next clue

There are 16 clues so that is 16 chances to win

There will be a winner for each clue

Each winner will then be put into the big drawing where they will have a chance to win it all!

Before we look at the prizes here are the rules

* you must follow each person's FB page!

( You can do this before hand but we will check to make sure that you are a follower!)

* You can only comment once to each clue {So make it good}

*You can comment between the times 3p.m. central time and 7p.m. central time

*Winners will be announced at 8p.m.

( If the random number thingy chooses you as a winner and you have not followed each FB
another winner will be chosen)

Take a look at the prizes that will go into the big drawing

Pst, this may or may not be your little cheat sheet

First up is

Me, hehe

That is all for now

Peace Out Peace

  1. Thank you for the great ideas! I am a new blogger and would love to get my name out there in the teacher blogging world. I am a K teacher right outside of Nashville (Franklin). I am having a difficult time tapping in and friending other teacher bloggers :) Any advice/shout outs would be tremendously appreciated!
    Thanks so much!

  2. I always look forward to reading your blogs! I've been integrating you new year's community building in my classroom and the children absolutely love it! We've been choosing one student a day and they look forward to their turn. I told my kids that my New Year's resolution for my class is to use more helpful words to each other. It's been successful so far. Now I wish I had a smart board...I passed up on the chance because my classroom is in a portable which means no space! Thanks for sharing your ideas!

  3. I just found your blog today and I am so glad that I did. Nice job creating all of those things for your classroom over break. I have a small to do list myself and with only 1 1/2 days left, I hope I have the motivation to get it done.
